SGL Architecture is a multidisciplinary architectural studio operating at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and planning policy.

The Studio specializes in initiating, planning, and overseeing projects across a wide range of scales – from strategic master plans and urban policy documents to the design of public buildings, commercial complexes, residential developments, and urban renewal initiatives.

Our projects span diverse geographic regions across the country, grounded in a deep understanding of local contexts and community dynamics.

The studio was founded in 2014 by architect and urban designer Sa'ar Segal Gharan Levy. Sa'ar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and a Master’s degree in Urban Design. He brings extensive professional experience from a leading architectural firm, where he was responsible for the planning, supervision, and management of large-scale projects in collaboration with local authorities, government ministries, and both public and private sector clients.

Since its founding, the studio has led a wide range of projects – from complex urban renewal initiatives, mixed-use developments, residential neighborhoods, and public buildings, to private villas, interior design, and specialized projects that aim to extract maximum value from spatial and programmatic constraints.

What sets the Studio apart is the integration of hands-on practice with critical design thinking and planning research. Sa'ar is the head of the Building Technologies, Tools, Foundations and Advanced Media department in the Architecture and Urban Design programs (B.Arch and M.Urb.Des) at Bezalel Academy, where he has been teaching and coordinating academic programs for over a decade. He sees the academy as a vital space for critical inquiry, innovation, and the expansion of design thinking – an ethos that carries through into the firm’s work.

Our practice is grounded in conceptual openness, professional curiosity, and the pursuit of context-sensitive design solutions – emerging from in-depth analysis of each site, its users, and its architectural and urban potential.
